"Let me be clear up front, there is zero shame in admitting one's struggles in life -- trauma, shame, guilt or uncertainty about the future -- and asking for help."

Dearest Friends,

During this Memorial Day weekend, all of us here at the Feathered Pipe Foundation take pause to recognize all those within our communities that have chosen to serve with the highest intention of bringing about a more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable world. We continue in our mission to honor and serve those who have been marginalized or have been overlooked, foremost would be those struggling with the trauma of violence.

The Feathered Pipe Foundation is honored to have helped launch and continue to partner with Veterans Yoga Project, one of the leading non-profit organization serving our returning military. Founded by Dr. Daniel J. Libby to assist veterans struggling with reintegrating back into society and post-traumatic stress, Veterans Yoga Project offers healing programs and teacher trainings for veterans as well as those wishing to help them in developing effective strategies to truly heal and thrive after combat experience.

During this time we would ask you to consider supporting VYP efforts through your kind donation to their Light-a-Candle campaign. All proceeds will go towards further implementation of their valuable service to our returning veteran community. Through the practices of breath, meditation, mindful movement, guided rest, and gratitude, Veterans Yoga Project is empowering many to see beyond the trauma and discover the deep resilience we all possess.

We thank each and every one of you who continue to believe in us and support our efforts in manifesting a more peaceful, cooperative and compassionate world!

Faith & Effort,
Feathered Pipe Foundation

Ease Vs. Happiness – Nat Kendall

Most of us have been programmed to think we need to chase this ideal of feeling ‘happy’ as often as possible. However the reality is that a feeling of happiness is fleeting and in pursuing that alone we can create the exact opposite effect, we’re getting stressed out trying to find and hold onto it – what a paradox! I’m beginning to see through the illusion and have focused instead on building a life filled with more balance and ease.

Is Your Yoga Safe? – J. Brown

When it comes to alignment, I find it curious to notice teachers who are are usually quite rigid in their instruction are now bending over backwards to explain how they respond to the needs of students. Specifically, I was reading an excerpt from a new book, written by a senior teacher in a classical tradition, who was considering the instruction to "straighten your leg."
