Dear Ones,
We are only $25,000 away from our fundraising goal. We have done so well digging ourselves out of debt. We will finish the water line before winter, which will ensure our wonderful, mountain spring water for the next 60 years — that's how long the current one lasted!
I think the land knew that now was the time to fix the water system — everything broke down just at the end of season when we could commence work. We had such a long list two years ago and now we're down to this! I'm hoping next year I can raise funding resources for a solar generator, something that would help us and be ecologically sound. Learn about our current projects and seva work, and donate here.
Our Fine Furry Friends & Feathered Pipe Family
The Ranch is also receiving energy from the people who come here. People need the Ranch, and I think the Ranch needs the people. I feel the interconnectedness between the students, the teachers, and even the connection with animals on the Ranch is becoming stronger.
Something is merging, a convergence of energy. I feel closer to interspecies communication. It started three years ago with a momma bear and her cubs, and this year it continues with bears, foxes, a mountain lion (the first time ever), deer, a turtle, the ravens, and all the birds. I feel such deep communication with them. They come into my yard and onto my porch. I think they're checking on
me.
Bow hunting season began during our last workshop and whenever that happens, the animals all come down to the Ranch. The guests were in awe at how many animals came down to avoid the hunters.
Compared to years past, our immediate needs this fall are relatively small: we have only $25,000 left to raise in order to finish the water lines, support the free veterans healing retreats, and shore up our scholarship fund.
I hope all the people who come here feel the love of the Ranch for them as well as their love of the Ranch.
Veterans Yoga Project's mission continues
Building upon Feathered Pipe Foundation and Veterans Yoga Project‘s relationships and success of this year’s VYP Summit and pro bono Montana Veterans retreat, we are planning to offer two veterans retreats in 2018 in conjunction with the VYP Summit: one for men and their families, and one for women Veterans only. We hope to raise enough to take veterans from outside Montana for the first time! We can contemplate this expansion in part because we had such great support from you, Montana businesses, and Veterans organizations this year.
Also if you are a yoga teacher or own a studio, consider taking part in VYP's 2017 Veterans Gratitude Week, November 3 - 12! Teach a community benefit class to express gratitude for our freedom and honor those who served in the United States Armed Forces. Learn more and sign up here.
I’m very much looking forward to hearing from you.

P.S. - Another incredible way you can support the Feathered Pipe is through signing up for one of our 2018 summer programs and inviting your friends. Next summer's programs are the highest-quality group of teachers we have had in many years, from mid-May all the way to the end of September. In order to lighten the load a bit we are offering two great ways to save,
AND they can be combined. Invite a friend(s) new to the Ranch and you each receive $100 off tuition price. And/or pay in full by November 15 for your 2018 retreat and save $100!

Balancing Groundedness and Lightness – Gernot Huber
How is this pair of opposites expressed in asana practice? We work towards a feeling of lightness, freedom, buoyancy in our poses, but in order to experience such lightness, we need a solid foundation to provide the stability that enables the sense of freedom. This is the idea behind the phrase “rooting to rise”.

The Practice of Welcoming: iRest® Yoga Nidra - Nöle Giulini
June 23 - 30, 2018: Feathered Pipe is privileged to host acclaimed international teacher Nöle Giulini and her unique style of yoga, which animates complex, ancient teaching in a playful, practical, and deeply life changing way. Nöle nurtures the union of the creative and the spiritual, and the one-of-a-kind serene Rocky Mountain setting of the Ranch aligns and harmonizes gracefully with all that lies at the heart of her teaching.
This very special week — happening in the fresh, light-filled wake of the summer solstice — is an opportunity to embrace the felt sense of personal sanctuary, meditation-in motion, body sensing, breath sensing, guided iRest® Yoga Nidra, co-meditation in dyads, and group dialogue.
