Love at Work

"We think life is strong and love is fragile, but really it’s the other way around. Life hangs by a thread and love holds the universe together."

Dear Friends,

Love at work. What comes to mind when you hear that? For me it evokes a few ideas. 1. Workplace romance. 2. The power of love in action, or love just doing its thing. 3. Bringing compassion and deep understanding to the work environment.

For now, I will leave the taboo subject of workplace romance out of the conversation and we know that love, being the true glue of the universe, is amazing and powerful. But one thing we don’t always think or talk about is love’s integral role at work and in our relationships with colleagues. When we bring love into our communications at work, it not only creates solid bonds and friendships but it makes work not seem so much like work.

It’s only recently—as I’ve been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Feathered Pipe Foundation and its team—that I’m spending more time consciously reflecting about this and more actively studying management. How do we sustain a positive environment for guests and staff? It always comes back to community. Community built with love.

The tests of infinite change and challenge and personalities can make it difficult to uphold this. But when there is a commitment to understand one another through empathy, deep friendships and relationships (including at work) can endure. And that makes it so much fun!

Dandelion Effect Podcast

While it all may sound all gooey, the interesting thing is that neuroscience and behavioral science-backed research on management and business success shows the same thing. Our human connection is at the heart of true success. (And big businesses are trying to crack the code we had already implemented simply because we were motivated by consciousness.)

This is exactly why Don Rheem, CEO of E3 Solutions and business culture changer, was coming to Helena last autumn to give a keynote speech on that topic at the hospital. Don reached out to us because his grandparents had owned the Ranch (when it was called Bear Creek Lodge) and built several of the iconic buildings. He had fond memories of visiting as a child and wanted to see what it was like now. Several of our extended Ranch family had the pleasure of welcoming him at the Ranch.

Through this reconnection, once again we can ruminate about synchronicity in this immense, yet tiny world we call home. We are thrilled to welcome Don on this week’s episode of The Dandelion Effect Podcast, a testimony to beauty of interconnectedness - Creating Connection In The Workplace.

Becoming More Attuned To Our Natural State Of Being – Estee Fletter

Our natural state is balance, a sacred space where we experience equanimity within our own beings and true harmony with our surroundings. Certainly we are all familiar with the many ways that the dealings of our daily lives can push us towards unbalanced states, causing stress and challenges to our wellbeing.

The more attuned we become, the better we get to know ourselves, and the more instinctively we can make choices that lead to the experience of greater evenness in our lives. Knowing what creates balance and imbalance in our own beings can empower us to make conscious choices more consistently.

Simple and wholesome ranch goodness. Hot and fluffy eggs, sweet and savory roasted green chilies, and some melty cheese makes me nostalgic for being a kid at grandma’s kitchen table. This hearty protein packed casserole is a great dish for breakfast or brunch and will sustain you throughout the day’s adventures.
